Service provider roles in press release distribution have changed since the time of the founding of the four big media giants in news generation, reporting, and distribution.  These giants are Agence France-Presse, Reuters, Associated Press and Dow Jones. From these four press leviathans mushroomed the numerous newswire agencies that today provide the same essential services, utilizing online platforms.
